Ready Mix Concrete

Concrete Products

Standard concrete products typically encompass mixes ranging from 15 MPa to over 35 MPa, including options with air entrainment and plasticizer. These versatile mixes cater to a variety of needs such as basement floors, garage floors, driveways, walkways, patios, porches, footings, walls, and other conventional concrete applications. The good news is that Stoney Creek Ready Mix offers the full spectrum of these concrete products and has the fleet of trucks to ensure timely delivery.

Exposed Aggregate
One of our most popular concrete applications features multicolored pea stone aggregate, which replaces the traditional 19mm limestone in the mix. This technique involves removing the top layer of cement to reveal the pea stone underneath. Exposed aggregate is commonly used for driveways, walkways, patios, and poolside areas. Additionally, it can be applied to vertical surfaces like decorative walls and sound barriers for a distinctive look.

Colour Additives

Integral Colour: Dry colour additives can be mixed directly into your concrete to achieve a custom hue for your project. For inspiration, refer to our colour chart.

Colour Hardeners: These come as a powder and are applied to freshly placed concrete. They are worked into the surface using a float or trowel, providing color primarily to the top layer of the concrete.

Fiber Mesh Reinforcement

Fiber mesh consists of fine nylon fibers mixed into the concrete. It enhances surface bonding, reduces plastic shrinkage cracks, and provides multi-dimensional reinforcement, improving impact, shatter, and abrasion resistance. This addition boosts the overall durability and toughness of the concrete. However, fiber mesh should not be used as a substitute for wire mesh.

Calcium/Accelerator

A non-corrosive accelerator can be mixed into your concrete to speed up its setting time, which in turn shortens the curing period. This additive enhances both early and ultimate strengths of the concrete. When used alongside appropriate cold weather concrete techniques, it enables placement of concrete even in below-freezing temperatures.

Flowable Fill/Unshrinkable Fill

Flowable fill is a mix of aggregates, cementing material, and water, with or without chemical admixtures. It hardens into a material with a compressive strength greater than soil but less than 0.4 MPa at 28 days, and can be removed using hand tools.

Unshrinkable fill is utilized for:

Backfill: Sewer and utility trenches, bridge abutments, conduit encasements, pile excavations, retaining walls, and road cuts.

Structural Fill: Foundation sub-bases, subfootings, floor slab bases, pavement bases, and conduit bedding.

Other Uses: Filling abandoned mines, underground storage tanks, wells, tunnels, sewers, basements, voids under pavement, and for erosion control.

Grout/Dry Pack

Grout and dry pack are concrete mixtures consisting of fine aggregates (sand), cement, and water, with optional chemical additives. Dry pack is a very dry mix designed for leveling floors before tiling. Grout, which has a higher water content than dry pack, is often used for applications like pool bottoms.
